Javier Perez was born in 1987 in Castellón and holds a Computer Science Engineering degree and a master's degree in "Intelligence Systems" from the Universitat Jaume I, Castellón (Spain). Nowadays, he works as a researcher in the Interactive & Robotic Systems Lab.
As part of the IRSlab he has collaborated in two EU funded projects (GUARDIANS and TRIDENT) and two national projects (TRITON and MERBOTS. He did a research stay at Australian Centre of Field Robotics (ACFR) in the University of Sydney, Australia from August to December 2015 to work on the marine ACFR.
His research on the IRS group is focused on simulation and benchmarking of autonomous underwater vehicles, deep learning and underwater image dehazing. He is the main developer and maintainer of the underwater simulator UWSim developed by the IRSlab. He is also working dehazing underwater images using deep learning with Tensorflow in order to increase the performance of autonomous vehicles.
