Juan Carlos was born in 1981 in Castellón and holds a B.S. in Computer Science and a master in "Intelligence Systems" from the Universitat Jaume I, Castellón (Spain). Nowadays, he works as a researcher in the Interactive & Robotic Systems Lab.
He also worked (2006-2009) in the Robotic Intelligence Lab as a member of the technical staff and as a researcher. He is responsible for the humanoid robots "RoboNova-1" and he has won three times the spanish humanoid competition CEABOT (2007-2009) as student. Since 2010 is the team leader from its university and member of the organizing committee.
His current research interests are underwater robotics, humanoids robots, web development and all related to new technologies.
His current work is related to the Graphical User Interface (GUI), which will be used in underwater robotic projects coordinated at the IRS-Lab. The GUI first version has been developed using C# and EmguCV (a OpenCV wrapper) and has been developed focusing on the user experience, so all its functions tends to be user-friendly as much as possible. Recently, he is working in Human-Machine Interaction in a new multimodal GUI, adding new features and new interaction capabilities to the UWSim. The following video show the integration of Oculus Rift and the Leap Motion controller:
